Legend Of Redd

"If you do business with us, or even drive past our store, you're probably wondering who the heck “Redd” is. Is he a badly behaved soldier who spent so much time scrubbing toilet floors with toothbrushes that he decided to start selling tiles? Is he a talent-challenged mosaic artist who decided that he could make more money selling the tiles than using them in his art? Or is he perhaps the rich granddaddy who bankrolled this business and demanded that his name live on forever? Well, the god-honest truth is that Redd, Thomas Redd that is, doesn't really exist - well not in the metaphysical sense of the word anyways. You see, when I was a boy, my pop was an army officer. So we moved around some, from this army base to the next. During junior high we travelled everywhere from the east coast to the west coast, north to south. It was just my maw and paw, my three older sisters and me. As you can guess, we moved around so much that I never got to have any real friends. So one day, when I was about 10 or so, my granddaddy (bless his soul), came out to Milwaukee to visit, and found me a-crying cos my sister Bess wouldn't play Superheroes with me. After quieting me down, he said this to me: "Son, you've got all the friends you need right here," and he tapped his head. "Right there inside you is Superhero so great, he's stronger than Superman, faster than Flash, and brighter than Batman. Why, his name is Thomas Redd, and his power is that he can do anything you want him to." Well, as I grew up, I always took ol' Thomas Redd with me, in my mind when I was a kid, and in my heart after granddad passed on in '84.

When I came of age, I went to work with one of the largest tile wholesalers in the South. Me and Thom, we got to learn everything there was to know about tiles in the thirty years we spent there. So when I came to your beautiful country to live out here with my daughter and decided to start a business doing what I do best, yep, selling tiles, I decided to call it Redd Tile, to honour the Superhero who's stronger than Superman, faster than Flash, and brighter than Batman - Thomas Redd. When you come to my store, remember that my employees know everything there is to know about tiles. And what they don't know, they just get on the horn and ask me, or my good buddy Thomas Redd. So even though there's no romantic legend of Thomas Redd, you know that his name is carried proudly and that you'll get the best advice and deals on your tiles. Come on in and talk to us at Redd Tile -
we're the Tile Superheroes!"
